Instead of the usual GG:SoR development video I decided to cut together this little min-documentary on my experiences at the Toronto Indie Game Development Jam last weekend (May1-3rd 2009). It's about ten minutes long and gives a good overview of what it's like participating in a large game jam (hint: exhausting).

This TOJam I colaborated with a great bunch of Indie game folks (some new some old) under the team name Invisible Ninja Squid (a mashup of our two team names from last year). We had a fantastic time and managed to create not one, but two games in the three day time limit!

For more info on TOjam and to play games go to http://www.tojam.ca

I hope you enjoy in this departure from our usually scheduled dev videos. Don't worry if you didn't. In two weeks we'll return to the usual Guerrilla Gardening: Seeds of Revolution (http://guerrillagardening.wordpress.com/) development video format.

However, if you did enjoy this video and want more like it leave a comment and I may start doing similar videos for other Toronto indie game events.

  • Thanks! It was fun to create!

  • Thanks! If you want more info on what the jam was like I recommend checking out the Tojam web page, several other people have written about there experiences, and there's at least one other video.

  • Really nice video. Great job on this one to.

  • Nice video! Getting a look at what happens at these events is pretty interesting.

  • They're well worth attending. 3D is tricky, but do-able. I'll be posting some footage of other teams, including Michael Todd (Engines of War, Garden, The Scourge) who managed a 3D game and finished early! Some other teams rendered 3D sprites and used them in a 2D game, so there are workarounds.

  • very cool. I was going to try and attend one of these last year, but couldn't. Looks like so much fun, but not much room for 3D (2 day time limit isn't very welcoming)
