Should have used an E8k series dual core chip and overclocked it like HELL(I think you can get 3.6Ghz on the stock cooler of an E8400 stable ofcourse). Macworld editorial staff members are n00bs in the PC know-how. Or at least overclocked the quad core to 3.0 or something higher...

i had a powermac 6100 (first mac with PowerPC processor) then a tangerine imac G3 then a powermac g4 then a mac mini G4 and then a powerbook G4 and now a intel iMac and i love it! leopard woooo
