As for a free editor... geez.... I haven't heard of one... rotoscoping in its basic form is just drawing on the frame, so any editing software that lets you draw would work... pain in the butt, but it'd work

and then there's... "free" software which I probably shouldn't advocate...

@FlyingIrishman: I think the idea behind this is that Star Wars was conceived with a Christian viewpoint in mind. The Force is effectively God. Anakin, born of a virgin mother, was a "Jesus" character who instead took the Temptation and fell to the dark side...however, his son Luke becomes everything Anakin should have been - to destroy the dark side, as Jesus came to destroy the power of death in Christianity.

This is merely an explanation of why the two were spliced together...
