@grizzleybearz282004: FT stands for "Freight Thirteen Hundred." The 1939 original, 16 cylinder 567 prime mover produced 1350 H.P. The F-7 was a later development (1949) of the FT with 1500 H.P. using similar nose components. Each nose was hand made, no two were identical. The nose mold on this model took 11 months to do in the computer after all the research in the field was accumulated. There are 5 direct scanned copies of this nose on the competitor's E & F unit models!

@Pipelyon They're on the Genesis units.

Where did those Chimmnies or spark arestors come from? The ones sticking up out of the F units roofs. Are they factory , and if so, what model?
Thanks!

@wcfl10 I had to go through a lot of grief in China fighting with everyone, even the Athearn representative I was there with, all until I was satisfied. Otherwise it would have been as with a Kato N Scale F Unit Warbonnet two toned silver paint. It's vacuum plated Aluminum over the ABS shell then with a wash coat of unspecified formula followed with a satin clear. THEN the red, yellow and black paint is applied. It matches the stainless steel color of the photo-etched grilles, not "chrome."

Have you guys ever compared the actual look of the Athearn Genesis front windshields (as these are) to the Walther's Proto 2000, BLI , or Intermountain? None of the others look at all like the prototype. Also the shade of red as shown here is just right and is nicely set off by the stainless steel color matched plating.
How did you get that spanking chrome-look on those AT&SF's? GREAT JOB!

Cool vid. Just a quick question if you don't mind. But what horn did you use, I know soundtraxx has different horns. I ask becuase I am going to convert my BLI's and I love the sound you have.
