Short update video of the latest progress getting my new Chinese laser cutter to work. Since the controller was on the fritz, I decided to replace it with a Mach3 board.

  • Awesome, that's a really good step forward, i can't believe the included software is so bad. There is no way to finding an update for it online? (though i assume you checked for that)

  • @fmkaiba It's not so much the software (Newlydraw) but the controller (I think). A useful test would be to capture the output from the program and see what it looks like (using a virtual parallel port). I bet it's some form of plotting language like HPGL.

  • @shobley It would be quite useful if it was, Be very easy to create a program to act as a conversion layer to be able to use other software with it. If thats even needed with software like CAD, Corel et

I imagine it be possible to use some existing software to import a SVG vector

The only thing i can see being difficult, is the speed of the machine truly controls the depth of the cut, the head always needs to be moving in constant speed even in diagonal motion. Dunno how u would control this.
