@aremar88, that only took you 5 months to say? nice... baby girl/boy, your last name and village and I could tell you if we are related. I refuse to lower my heritage & be negative towards any of my family, including you & Nonosina. The essence of commonality btwn ALL POLYNESIAN cultures must be embraced and challenged. Weird? No, bc our language, customs and tradition base holds so many similarities. By your comments, I don't know what your defending but jealousy and competition.

@HeimanaProductionWA At this point, I'm just laughing. I tried being nice and reasonable in my comments about this video, but now I'm just over it. You're probably 1/100th Polynesian if anything so you're clinging to the aesthetics of the dance and its "message." If you could relate, you'd know that the one thing about the Polynesian culture that separates us from the rest of the world is that it is preserved. This type of dance, IN MY OPINION and despite its creativity, undoes that.

I LOVE NONOSINA! Nonosina, knows how to push the bar and be really creative! This is one of the groups, that I always look forward to watch when they compete, because they always incorporate something new and put a new spin and angle to the traditional ORI tahiti! Nonosina, in many ways reminds me of Les Grand Ballets DE Tahiti another favorite group, always doing something to captivate the mind and explore new horizons! Someone once said, its good to keep the old, and know the new!

one thing i have always criticized nonosina for is their consistent modernization of a dance that is purely based on tradition (and keeping the culture alive). although i don't agree with it and probably never will, i do think they deserve kudos in the performance department-they are phenomenal at performing.

This was not meant to be traditional or a Marques bird dance. The catagory was modern. MODERN. Not traditional, not intended to be traditional, I hope that anyone that watches this doesn't think this is traditional or Marques bird dance.
