yea but the only two things that are bad about this game is that
you cant create your player and be him and when you create your player you are left with a generic stance or pitching motion and are unable to change it

I'm thinking about picking this game up finally as I've played The Show and love it but I'm not getting a PS3. What exactly does this patch do for the game?

The patch address some bug/glitch issues with gameplay and franchise mode. The game is a very good game. Dont be discourage by hearing negative comments because they are mostly driven by the previous years hang ups, so people started bashing this game before they even seen it.

whats with the ticker on the bottom? does it actually post real scores?

Yes it does, you can enable it in the options menu. it can be customized to display any sport you want or every sport.
