"The Mist Covered Mountains" and "Sgian Dubh" are traditional Scottish tunes
"Paddy's Leather Breeches" is traditional Irish
a couple interesting facts:
"The Mist Covered Mountains" is found as part of the "Scots Guard" pipe music as a slow march;
a sgian dubh is the knife a Scotsman wears in his kilt hose

These tunes are a few of my favorites to play, though I definitely need to keep working on them :/ "Mist..." could use some work in the double-stops department... and I definitely need to keep working on cleaning up "Sgian Dubh"

yey for my terminally non-photogenic-ness.... lol oh well

  • hey, on the 5th line of the sheet music i thought the b notes (or whichever part has the 3 bs in a row) were rolls but it seems they are triplets by how you are playing it (which sounds correct and didn't sound right when i was doing rolls. It's just the sheet music had the squiggle which I thought meant a roll so I'll try playing with triplets instead.

  • @dwaynedibbly everybody plays the music their own way; that's part of the tradition of Celtic music. if you want to play them as rolls, go ahead! just because i play the tune a certain way doesn't mean that's the "correct" way or the only way to play it. do what sounds right to you and what you want to do. and always keep playing and experimenting. good luck! :)

  • If you don't mind saying, where did you get the second tune? I've been on a search for it with no luck. :(

  • @FortOyer the second tune is a tune i found in a book called Celtic Air. its the book that really got me started with fiddling and a good amount of my tunes come from it
