Wow! Mr. Bennett is truly a living American treasure.  I wish more people would embrace what this man represents, one of the last surviving links to a golden era.

I thouroughly enjoyed his interview with Ramsey Lewis on "Legends of Jazz".

Outstanding Pianist as well.

I"m not sure what you're hearing, but the only "key change" is the modulation to the flat 3 Major chord in the B section which, in this case, is F Major (this is in the published chart). As for the "pauses," the pianist is following the singer and one can still feel the piece being performed "in time." This, combined with the chord substitutions, makes this a truly beautiful performance. It's called jazz.
