Are you using nylon strings or metal? I've always wondered which George Formby used. He got a great tone.

@MsPerfectsquare I know GF didn't use metal strings which is what I put in the post prior - he used gut.

What I did say was that it was not a good idea to use metal strings as it would do your fingers no good (it could also ruin the instrument due to the extra tension for metal strings - which I did not say at the time). I did say that metal strings are OK for finger picking banjo style - I should have added that it sould only be on a banjo rather than a banjo uke. :-)

@davegb99 You will shred your fingers using metal strings on a banjo uke. People don't generally do that. George Formby did not use metal strings.
