Peter Roper-Curzon plays the Liszt Concert etude No.3 in D-flat major. This recording was made during a live performance at St. John's Church, Notting Hill in 2004.

Franz Liszt is by far one of the most spiritual composers I have encountered. This masterpiece will take you to places you've never dreamed of, Franz Liszt wrote some of the most technically demanding and spiritual music imaginable that speaks directly to the human soul. The mark of a true genius with an unbelievably sophisticated musical language. Sadly this magnificent Romantic composer is not appreciated nearly enough by the mainstream as he deserves.

  • He happened to be my 14 year-old son who was pitch-perfect with some musical talent but never having enough time for practice.... due to school work. You are obviously one who understands music and appreciates good music-making, performances...etc...Thanks for your comment.

  • I love all the true masters of music making and the cultures that they are born from and I appreciate a wide variety of styles. That son of yours is a great talent Sir. He will have a great future in the world of music. Many thanks for your kind comments as well.

  • Very good!

  • I liked it very much. I agree they were both geniuses, very talented composers. I heard the "Military Polonaise" when I was in school as a young teen, and fell in love with it immediately. I also have heard Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty" many times and the Nutcracker, and both are extraordinarily beautiful.

  • That's because they were both true geniuses. I'm glad you liked it.

  • This is absolutely fantastic. I think this, Chopin and Tchaikovsky have a similar flavor. Great performance!
