This tutorial explains how to install Windows wireless drivers in Linux. There are 2 slightly different methods that I show. In Linux Mint 12 (and possibly previous versions), there is a "Wireless Network Drivers" program that assists you in installing the drivers. That is the first method I describe.

The second method shows how to use the command line, if your distribution doesn't have the "Wireless Network Drivers" utility.

Hope this serves as some use to people!

  • i have a dell wireless 1450 usb for my pc how do i install thast it has no inf file...

  • @epicplumbs Some manufacturers only package driver installations in .exe files. In this case, you might be able to use an archiving program (like 7-zip or IZArc) to open the .exe file. Then you can extract the driver files from within the .exe file.

  • @WebHunterification thanks :D

  • @rockonscott If you just want to erase Zorin OS, you can use whichever Windows CD/DVD you have, and install it to the laptop. It will erase everything on the computer, including Zorin OS, and replace it with a fresh copy of Windows.

  • @WebHunterification not to sure. i have a crappy Zorin OS PC. just wondering can i upgrade my Zorin PC to windows 7 or windows xp

  • @rockonscott What wireless card does your laptop have?

  • @WebHunterification whats the website please

  • You should be able to download the drivers from the website of the manufacturer who makes your wireless card. Alternatively, you can also probably find the drivers for your wireless card at the website of your laptop's manufacturer.

  • Is there somewhere I can download the drivers? I'm afraid I don't have a windows partition.
