Here's a quick piece I threw together to go along with a GaijinChannel.com article about Tokyo Christmas illuminations. But one reason I shot this was simply to test out my new GH2, guerrilla shooting at Tokyo Midtown, the highlight of which was the "Starlight Garden" attraction.
I managed to get quite stable shots thanks to a pretty kickass monopod from Manfrotto (561bhdv), which was low-key enough not to raise any red flags in an area where tripod shooting is strictly forbidden.
The GH2 hack is Andrew Reid's EOSHD "Intra-esting 88" which enables shooting 1080/24p at 88Mbit/s. Almost all shots are with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 (Canon mount/Kippon adapter) I threw in only one shot from the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (try and find it!) ISO settings were mostly 320, 640 or 1250. The footage is untreated, so this is how it looks straight from camera.
I'm using SanDisk Extreme Class 10, 30MB/s SDHC cards. I've used this patch on two more shoots since and still not a single hiccup or freeze.
