Nashville 21 may 1977.

with pictures of a concert (1978) by some guy named Keith Robert Wessel.

"Monday morning you look so fine." And so began the first song that appeared on Fleetwood Mac's first album with newcomers Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. This album, simply titled Fleetwood Mac, went on to sell millions of copies and so launched the members of Fleetwood Mac into super-stardom.

Although not broken up when they joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's relationship was already rocky. Monday Morning is just one of the many songs Lindsey wrote about Stevie and their ever so tumultuous relationship.

At the beginning of the week, things are great between Stevie and Lindsey, but by the time Friday rolls around, Lindsey needs a break. The cycle of the days of the week represent just how much the feelings in this relationship change. At first Lindsey feels very much in love with Stevie, but as each passing day slips by those feelings change to confusion. Lindsey doesn't know what Stevie wants and is being pulled in different directions by his feelings for her. Lindsey tells himself that he can't go on for long feeling this way about the relationship.

It is possible as well, that in this verse Lindsey could be referring to the fact of getting out on the road on Friday and performing his music. By Monday he was glad to be back for a little rest before another gig came up.

Lindsey doesn't seem to want the lyrics in this song to be taken too seriously because he is always quick to tell Stevie he wants her anyway even with all the pain and confusion she has caused him.

This song was written at the beginning of the breakup of Stevie and Lindsey before things got really unbearable for both of them. This song was Lindsey's way of telling Stevie his feelings without a lot of anger, just confusion. As their relationship neared the end, songs of Lindseys' like 'Go Your Own Way' were written but contained more feelings of anger towards Stevie. In a recent interview during the Dance tour Lindsey said, "I had issues with Stevie that hadn't been resolved. We had broken up in 1977 and I left the band 1987. You'd think ten years....get on with it buddy." Monday Morning reflects directly on this quote. It appears that Lindsey didn't get the peace in his mind that he asked for in Monday Morning for many, many years after he wrote this song.

Monday morning you look so fine
Friday I got travelin on my mind
First you love me, then you fade away
I cant go on believin this way
I got nothing but love for you
So tell me what you really wanna do
First you love me then you get on down the line
But I dont mind.
I dontt mind
Ill be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind.

Monday morning you look so fine
Friday I got travelin on my mind
First you love me then you say its wrong
I cant go on believing for long
But you know its true
Uou only want me when I get over you
First you love me then you get on down the line
But I dont mind
I dont mind
Ill be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind

  • For gods sake someone please upload the album version. The audio on ALL of these is awful. This one is the only one that gets anywhere close to listenable, but it's still not right.

  • Can we all just stop with who was the best singer or songwriter of the band. They all were damn good and that is what made the band. Each one had his or her unique talent and style of singing. They were a BAND and were the sum of all the parts of the band. FM for me was one of the best bands in the 70's and 80's.

  • lindsey should have married stevie perfect couple

  • @johnnystaccata Stevie didnt ruin the band she was one of the best things that happened Fleetwood Mac...

  • 2:53... i really wish Christine McVie was still in the band. When she harmonized with Stevie it was killer!!

  • @johnnystaccata To each his own. Stevie is not your cup of tea but I find her fabulous !

  • @TroubleinBellaDonna Actually Fleetwood Mac's first album was in 1968. In later years they added various people like Bob Welch and Stevie Nicks. Those people ruined the band. The Rolling Stone is a rag, and their opinion is not taken.

  • @johnnystaccata Fleetwood Mac's first album with Ms Stevie Nicks, the woman Rolling Stone once named the " Queen of Rock and Roll ". And they were right in my opinion.

  • This wasn't from Fleetwood Mac's first album. Fleetwood Mac started in the 60s and they originally did Black Magic Woman.
