  • Or how about importing it through imovie

  • @arrow1archer There will be a significant loss in quality

  • Im using Adobe Premier Pro to edit. You have helped me with a question ive had for about three month to date. But how do you get the footage off of the camer after you enter "system profiler" and your camera appears in the "firewire" section???? Yes it shows its connected, but what next?

  • @pompey697 Once its in system profiler and shows as connected, you should be able to import through adobe as now your computer is now communicating with the device. Search import techniques online if you aren't sure how.

  • Depending on the kind of macbook and the year

(which has to do with processing speed and RAM) but even with an older macbook you will be able to do everything just fine, I only recommend when working with HD format to purchase an external hard drive.

  • thanks man mind if i do a video and use your steps in it

  • Go for it, maybe just make a link to this video in the description

    Cheers and have fun

  • please, I´m new mac user, i have an DCR-SR85 camcorder but, although i was able to convert the video using ¨flip4mac¨ the quality is very low and also I cannot edit it in imovie, i was thinking about buying new video-recorder but which ones are compatible with mac pro??

  • I Have a Cyber Shot Sony and I Lost The Chord But I Have a Memory Stick Dou Pro,

When I Put The Memory Card In The Memory Stick And Use a Extension Chord And Hook it Up Ext. But It Doesn't Aprear To The Desktop, What Do I Do?

  • @mothsailing23 yes!!! i just plugged the USP in my mac and opened imovie...open imovie BEFORE you plug in the usb then when its open plug everything in and in imovie on the left is that camera icon thing and when you click on it it usually connects w the webcam...so then in the lower left of that it says camera and hopefully ur mac will then recognize the camera...for some reason mine started recognizing the camera i hope i helped let me know if it works!

  • I'm having the same problem. Getting up photos but imovie not doing anything. Did you figure out how to do it?

  • I have a Mac laptop, but there's no firewire port. How can I upload a video if I don't have a port for firewire?

  • @joshuawenke ok thanks, but actually it worked and i didnt even do anything!

  • @Juicybabyy26 Your mac won't recognize the videos off of a sony camera. You'll need an application to do the work for you. I use Final Cut Pro (File > Log & Transfer/Capture), but I think iMovie or Adobe will work, too.

  • @2migell usb is pretty slow... and firewire is an extremely fast cable.

  • were you use a USB?

  • my mac dosn't even know that there is a camera plugged in to the computer. i have tried different fire wire cables but it still dosen't work. any help?
