@schnigify The good thing about Jazz language is that it's actually a very diversified idiom. A lot of accents and modulations to it.
And go tell brubeck about pound pound pounding not being jazzy :)

She learned the language of jazz "out of context?" How does that work exactly? She listened to jazz records in the wrong order or something? Or she was supposed to listen to them in New York? Maybe her slanty eyes distort the notes somehow. We all know that there is only one right way to play jazz -- in fact, that is the hallmark of the form, I've heard.

@schnigify She learned it, just out of context and she doesn't really understand what it means. She has the vocabulary and the facility, but what she does lacks musicality because she doesn't really get jazz itself. I don't care if you can play stride at 320 if you can't make me feel somethin. How about you take a deep breath, call a blues at about MM 112 and put some greaze on that motherfucker, hmm? Then we'll talk. Feel me, bro?

She is one of the greats

Why all the POUND POUND POUNDING!!! Oscar could get his point across without all of the pounding. She never really learned the language of jazz so most of what she plays in the right hand is BS .
It's really fast though.
