funny how in that film she's a staright woman raped and real life she's gay and so is one of the 3 men who rape her, steve antin, he's gay in real life too!

as good as the film is in many ways such as when she sees the man who orchestrated the rape in the record shop, and later how she smashes into the car. To me how that film plays out after she gets into her car it almost plays out like a comedy like "9 to 5", or something like that.
Still she definetly was the best actress of that year, still it wasnt a hard year when she was nominated, plus the director isnt very good.
As is always the way, real characters win oscars, but the directors dont

@chinahands100 I disagree. In Maverick, she was convincing acting really feminime and had a nice chemistry with Mel Gibson. She's a good actress. It's a bit wrong to assume someone can't play something because of their sexuality. Straight people get rewarded for playing gay all the time. And I'm sure there are lots of closeted actors who have played straight all their careers and no one knows.

The movie was hard to watch but was necessary to show that what happened to the victim in the movie was wrong, no matter what her lifestyle, beliefs, etc were. This was an attack and act of violence that should never happen to anyone. Jodie Foster played it beautifully.
