well there are all sorts of versions and ,being a philly native, you cant block the tune out on january 1 during the mummers parade. it was written by an african american from philly too. however, if you can find it give a listen to the version by the canadian accordian master harry hibbs

Are you sure this is the correct speed?
Sounds a little too fast for my ears.
There were "78" records that had 80rpm
(rpm= running or Revolutions Per Minuet).

Later immortalized as the Golden Grahams commercial jingle.

YOU HEAR THIS SONG OFTEN IN WESTERNS, GUNSMOKE,
MY DARLING CLEMENTINE, GOOD OLE SONG THE CHORUS
IS ONE OF THE BEST ONE EVER WRITTEN

My mom used to come into my room and sing this song to piss me off and wake me up. Lol Now I just look back and laugh at the whole thing.

This is nice but a litte fast for my tast.
I slowed the recording to .5 speed and found out that it was sung by a talented Boy prior to puberty, with a Brooklyn, NY voice. Also it sounded better, like real life.

@Hairbanger24 HA! It does sound pretty bad, doesn't it? It actually was played at 78 RPM, and I have to wonder how many copies sold.
