I'm trying to do an animation a week. So, here's the first one in a series of Stikfas Animation tutorials.
Special thanks to http://www.rastasia.nl for supplying the stikfas.
If you want to read my blog about this,

I find them in comic book stores or hobby stores, sometimes. It depends where you are. They're called Stikfas. Go to stikfas.com and find the retailer search.

Im guessing most people get the assemble-able stikfas. i want a plain Alpha Male Stikfas, but they only come in blister(un-assembleable) form! can you get them in some kind of assembly form?

@techn0FTW Sorry, I'm not too sure. All the stikfas I've got were in un-assembled form.

How do you get the black backrounds?

I have the shutter speed a bit faster, and bring in the lights closer and play with the brightness during animation. That gets it pretty dark.
Then, in postproduction, I play with the contrast and brightness settings even more.

I increase the shutter speed (but not too much because then it starts to flicker on me). I also play with the brightness settings and turn it down so that it's pretty dark.
Then, in post production, I play with the brightness and contrast settings even more.
