MC Xander was interviewed for the independent online music blog http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2011/01/31/qabeatboxer-mc-xander who asked Xander how he makes his all-vocal music. The following is not a song, it was a freestyle that he made up on the fly just to demonstrate the gear.

MC Xander's all-vocal album, 'eyeopeness' is available from www.mcxander.com

For people in London, there is a launch party on the 23rd feb 2011 at the vibe bar in brick lane. see www.facebook.com/mcxander for details.

  • Great video Xander. Gives me more ideas about how to construct my tunes. I make multi-layered tracks with guitar, beatbox, harmonica and vocals with an rc50. but i´m looking to get some new effects equipment. What do you suggest??

  • @jackdylansalt depends what you want to do really :) it sounds like you got a lot of different noises coming in to the RC-50 already, maybe some tasty reverb and delay?

  • nice xander

  • @dowdenboy cheers man X

  • "Hi this is MC Xander and I'm a beatboxer.." BULLSHIT. You're not a beatboxer. Rahzel is a beatboxer, you're a GENIUS.

  • @OrxaN335 he/she thought that it is download button...

  • I come back to this a good few times a year, always puts a big grin on my face

  • Wooooooow!! Amazing

  • ok is there anyone that knows how to sync up the two, or at least point me to a guide

  • Is the RC50 master or slave to the KP3? I'm having trouble syncing the two

  • WHO THE HECK DISLIKED THIS VIDEO?

  • what is the machine to the left of the KP3? I notice he uses that right before he makes the bass line, is that what does the pitch shift on his voice?

  • Wow, all of your music has really good movement and flow to it. Awesome stuff!!!!! But I have a question - when you're using the KP3 and the RC50 together, do you plug the KP3 into the 'pedal' input on the RC50, or do you plug your mic into the KP3 and plug that directly into the the main input on the RC50?

  • @MeatyMushroom thanks for the response. I have ordered the RC300 loop station (step up from what Xander is using) so i should be good for looping.....at this point I'm trying to figure out if the KP3's will be more suited than the Boss GT10B for effects....i also love the korgs ability to distort and tweek sound by using the pad.....any thoughts MM? Maybe i should get both..hmmmm

  • @distortthis KP3's are good, but very limited... to make anything decent you need at least 2 or 3, or feed it into another loop station of your choice. I learnt the hard way... it's an expensive way to make music :P
