This is your mind.
During this time of year, it can be filled with expectations from family and friends, thoughts on final exams, and very little time.
It can make anyones mind want to explode and turn into a pile of mush.
But this is your mental health, you have control over it.
MayoClinic.com and Rethink.org give 5 Tips to Cope with Stress.
One of the most basic things you can do is sleep.
We often forget that were not superhuman.
Getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep should be perfect.
Build a nourished body.
Dont eat sweets.
Eat balanced meals and drink plenty of water.
You dont have to carry all that baggage on your own.
Talk to someone; either a family member or a trusted friend on the phone or in person.
If you're here on the Rollins College campus, you can use CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) 407 628 6340 or for Holt and Crummer students you can use the Cornell Counseling Clinic at 407 646 2134.
Reward yourself with something relaxing before and after your stressful event.
Listen to music. Go outside. Ride a bike. Take a warm bath. Walk your dog. All of these have been found to relax the mind.
Oxygen in and carbon dioxide out can make the mind happy.
Plan ahead and write down.
Making a to-do list helps you focus on the things that are important for the day.
Marking a calendar with your assignments for the week can help you see whats ahead of you and make you feel more accomplished by the end of it.
