Track 2, (composed by Paul Muggleton) title track of the 1977 album "Come Hell or Waters High" by English rock band Omaha Sheriff, comprised of:

Paul Muggleton: lead vocals and guitars
Bob Noble: keyboards and backing vocals
Chris Birkett: lead vocals, lead guitar, percussion, bouzouki
Michael Spencer-Arscott: drums, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals
Tony Visconti: bass guitar and ukulele

The band's only album was produced by Tony Visconti and was the third and last long-playing album released on his own Good Earth record label (released on its parent label, RCA, in the States). Still not on CD.

This song was released as the album's first single in 1977, with the non-album track "Payne Street Junction" on the flip side. In 1981, Judie Tzuke (by then Paul Muggleton's wife and band-mate) covered the song on her third album, "I Am the Phoenix." Also covered in 1986 by Dee C. Lee.

  • @nireejj

Do you have any idea where I can download this by Dee C. Lee? Been looking forever!

  • also a Huge aching memory from now too

  • Huge aching memory from the 70's. Brilliant under appreciated song.

  • It was covered brilliantly by Judie Tzuke and she sang it during her recent 2010 UK tour. She is infact married to Paul Muggleton and their eldest daughter Bailey Tzuke is now forging her own musical career as well - check them both out. Have to agree about the album meriting release on CD, it's one of my all time favourites.

  • Dee C lee performs it as much perfectly.

  • Astoundingly beautiful song which I am amazed no one else has successfully covered. This album merits release on CD or at the very least this track on a compilation.
