@LynxEyeDotCA Yeah i was advised not to buy a car in montreal when i moved from australia last year and due to the fact of parking restrictions i came during summer so alot of events happen that means several roads are closed then weeks later it opens tho other roads on other side closed etc.

In Oslo they just put up temporary plastic signs to warn people about snow removals. The signs are just white plastic bags on a pole with the day they will remove snow on, and a spesific time period. Cars that are parked during the time period will get towed away and get a 368 dollar fine.

@vladswan your welcome. not sure if you saw the video. The link didn't post, but it's up on my page if your interested. Parking all depends on the borough you live in here. There is a number you can call to find out if the restrictions are in effect for that day, which is what I do. Why move the car if you don't have too. lol Some people in my neighborhood can park in the back, but most of those people have there homes on the bottom floor. I'm on the 2nd floor, so street is my parking

@ForeverRainbows thanks alot. As we have almost none of such buildings (it's either 9-20-stored so you might not even hear the warning) or 1-2 countryside with garages so it's not a problem) it's close to impossible to get something reliable here :-(
-
@vladswan if you go here, you can hear the warning that comes from the tow trucks before they ticket then tow. They do one pass with the warning first, then they pass again and sit by the car with warning on for about a minute, then they ticket and move your car .. usually about one street over.

@LynxEyeDotCA Thats every city. You cant just park your car on the street at everyone elses expense. Get a parking spot or dont get a car. You guys have an awesome transit system by comparison to the rest of the country, no excuse to park on the street.

awesome armada of snow vehicles, and the bolero works perfect with it!!!
Sorry, after a year I was wondering how do they clear snow outside my country :-)
What will they do if they encounter a car parked aside?

@vladswan There is another truck, not shown here, that passes on the streets before the cleaning, with a rather loud warning siren telling people to move their cars for snow removal. The left cars on the street will get towed and fined by these first "warning" teams.

@LynxEyeDotCA emm. How long before? Cause, say, I'm away for several days and left my car near my home, what for should I be fined? Sorry for my curiosity, we have severe problems with snow cleaning this winter so I'm kinda looking for international experience :-)

@vladswan 1-2h before. One cannot leave the car parked for several days near home, even during summer. You wouldn't believe the parking restrictions that exist on this island! Only way out of this is to leave the car with friends or in a garage (plenty of them here). Yep, that's Montreal...
