Chances are...to keep it affordable..itll be made under licence in China, the batteries will come from taiwan....no jobs for americans. Why is GM so slow in bringing new technology to the market. The Prius was introduced 14 years ago...and thats old tech now. No wonder they went bankrupt. To little to late GM. As for the car inself..nice try...gotta start somewhere.

@ixfxi , umm, well, the Tesla costs at least twice as much ... the cost of the huge battery pack (53KWH vs 16KWH) that the Tesla uses is huge!.

Had me right up to the 'it will be made in the USA and exported world wide'... haha GM will have a sales flop on their hands. US designed and built cars are very unpopular for mainstream vehicles in the rest of the world, exceptions being... nissan murano and Jeep did quite well for a bit in the 90's

@Questionssm so yes you need to lubricate the bearings in the motor (sealed units will last many many tens of thousands of miles) and you need to lubricate the CV joints on the driving wheels and things like the hinges, apart from that no, there's no need to oil anything in an EV car. The volt is an odd step as it has all the problems of a Gas car thrown in.

yeah, that or I understand that lubrication is hardly "minor" as you claim. oil is vital to prevent metal on metal contact, reduce friction and keep things cool. but you wouldn't know that. you don't consider motor oil as a lubricant and assume that your electric cars are going to magically operate without lubrication.

ignorance can be fixed, work on it.

All I can say is that oil is on the way out, so you might as well get used to it. The public demands electric cars - no amount of collusion by industry and government will stop this progress. Of course, everyone has free choice, so if ppl still want to drive their RAM 250 pickups at 9 miles/ gallon ($5/Gal), they can. That's what I call ignorance - so, really, I mean good luck with that.
