There was a petition of people wanting to buy their leased EV1's. Mr. Lutz, please don't lie to us.

Can you say OIL?

Young man: "That means 60,000 isn't very many vehicles..."

Bob Lutz: "No, I agree with you. I think its a conservative figure, but we need to let somebody screen some of our technology, and lets face it, the only ones who are going to be able to use it [ARE RICH]. "

Young man: "Are you still thinking mid 30's?"

Bob Lutz: "Naw, I think we're figuring just below 40..."

why would he say that they "could not sell any EV1's" if you talk to a former owner of a EV1 or watch who killed the electric car movie, seems to me they really really really wanted these cars bad!
Hell I would have bought one and I hate GM!

Bob Lutz and Rick Wagoner are prime examples of corporate greed. Business schools need to study these men that destroyed gm

Always excuses! They always hold out on us!

It's time for people to build (convert) their own electric cars and flood the street with them. That is the only way to get the message through to these knuckleheads. They want to lead us down the primrose path and give us the incremental changes and talk about 30 mpg like its a big deal!

Please! I can't be the only one who wants all-electric right now!!!!

Take the Oil and Shove It!!!

Correction. NiMH is 30% less energy density the least energy-dense LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry

NiMH's energy density is about the same as lithium. They are patented and unavailable for use in EV's. The concern with lithium batteries is that they might last LESS, not more, do your research. The Toyota Rav-4 EV was brought out 8 years ago on NiMH and they are all still going strong. See videos by liveoilfree.

What company supposedly invests a $billion to develop an EV, and abandons it after only a few hundred hit the roads? You believe that? They are lying.

It's all lies coming from GM

Bullshit. The energy density of NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) is about ONE HALF (50%) that of some Lithium Ion chemistries and is 50% less than even the least energy-dense LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. The only advantage is that NiMH is Thermally Stable, an advantage negated by LiFePo4- which is also thermally stable.

NiMH is also cheaper, although that difference is beginning to disappear as lithium ion batteries are being developed more. The Toyota Rav4-EV provides undeniable proof that NiMH can last 10 years with minimal degrade. There's a reason why when you want a AA rechargeable you buy NiMH, not lithium. The problem with NiMH is that development of this battery for large format has stagnated because no one is allowed to use them for anything other than AA or AAA (which do not threaten oil sales).

"AA rechargeable you buy NiMH, not lithium" - You can't even BUY Lithium Ion Rechargeable batteries right now! The only way to get them (and they are NOT AA format, of course) is to get DeWalt 36V Tool battery, crack it open and pull the batteries out. 4 of those relatively small batteries start up a truck!
