I just put gyros to the rudder, elevator and ailerons on my .46 tower hobbies trainer. I also put flaps too which did not come with the plane originally. I don't need any of them to fly but it is just fun to upgrade what i have.
I flew it today on a 16-18 mph wind, ofcourse the plane was little shaky bc it is a small plane but the gyros did a great job. I was able to hold the plane in one spot just like a helicopter with the headwind and flaps down!! Also with flaps down taking offs are shorter and landings are slower and smoother

  • Total of 3 gyros. One for ailerons, one for rudder and one for elevator. For ailerons i used a y splitter. So it goes like this: Servo, y splitter, gyro and receiver. But you gotta use the different ends of the servo heads to connect to the contol surface so they go opposite ways(one goes up while other goes down). Hope this helps

  • just what I've been searching for tnx

  • Does it have 4 gyros or how did you do the differential to ailerons? Is it mechanical differential?

  • Nice Mods, My brother and I also modified a Tower Trainer 40. No gyros, but we have 3 way flaps, mixing and dual rates.

  • Great upgrade specially the flaps. I would like to see a closeup of how you hooked the flaps up cuz the ailerons use the torque rods in the center.
