I paced back & forth, Demis adolescent eyes following my every move.
I sighed & glanced over at her, confusion taking over her expression.
You really dont remember who I am?, I asked stopping in front of her.
She shook her head slowly, Im really sorry, but I dont.
I sighed & continued pacing, Im Joe, your fiancé.
Demis eyes widened, Fiancé?
I turned my head to her, Yes, fiancé.
She shook her head again, Thats impossible.
I walked towards her, its not, I said taking her hand, Im Joe, remember? JOE.
I held her hand tightly, pleading for her to remember.
She winced as my grip grew stronger.
Please let go, she whispered.
I sighed in frustration as a nurse walked in.
How can you not remember?!?, I yelled, impediment taking over me.
The nurse walked over to Demi, Im going to have to ask you to leave sir.
I shook my head as the she led me out.
I was at loss for words as I walked away, the love of my life, the girl of my dreams, my soul mate,
had no idea who I was.
A doctor pulled me aside, Mr. Jonas?, he asked.
I nodded, fidgeting with my sweat shirt, yes.
He looked down at his clipboard, Ms. Lovato, seems to have lost her long term memory.
I looked up at him, which means?!
He sighed, shes not going to remember much on who you are & what you mean to her.
The hope in me faded & my eyes darkened, Oh.
We stood silently as I thought about all this, her confused expression sinking in to me.
How long?, I asked looking down.
How long?, the doctored asked puzzled.
Yes, I looked up at him, how long will this last.
He shrugged, not sure, a couple of months, maybe years.
My eyes widened, and all the hope I could of ever had was now gone, months..years, I whispered to myself. I closed my eyes, taking it all in, our wedding is in 3 weeks though, I hissed.
The doctor gave me a sympathetic look, Im sorry, but there isnt much we can do-
Anything, I said looking up at him, do anything, please, I just want her to remember.
A tear slid down my cheek as I thought of Demi.
The doctor sighed, Im sorry but the only thing you can do is try your best to make her remember, open up the photo albums, any of that will be helpful.
I shook my head walking towards a chair.
Right now I just needed to sit down & think about all this.
It was my fault, I whispered, none of this wouldve happened if I wouldnt of been hit.
I heard footsteps as I looked up.
Selena was coming towards me, her wavy hair bouncing on her shoulders, Hey Joe, she said embracing me in a hug.
Her eyes were red, indicating she was crying, how she doing?, she asked pulling away.
I sniffled and looked down, not good, I paused, she lost her long-term memory.
Selenas eyes widen, no, no, no, she whispered to herself sitting beside me, It cant be.
I gave her a sympathetic smile, I know, its going to be okay, I said rubbing her back.
She broke out into sobs, she was my best friend though!
I sighed pulling her in for a hug, she was my fiancé, I whispered.
Selena pulled away looking up at me, her eyes gleaming, Oh, I am so sorry Joe.
I closed my eyes looking down once again, yeah I know.
She placed her arm around my neck, cuddling up next to me, Im here for you buddy, she said with a giggle.
I chuckled wiping her tears away, thanks.
She sniffled rubbing her eyes, well I just signed some release papers, she can come stay with me while you sort all this out.
I bit my lip & nodded, sure.
My phone rang and Selena nodded, walking away.
I checked the caller id, it was the school calling.
