Ventana Wildlife Society is dedicated to conserving Native Wildlife and their Habitats. The fires that ravaged Big Sur this summer claimed the lives of two wild condors and completely destroyed two large aviary strucutures used for releasing and holding condors, both pens are critical tools for our condor recovery work. In September 2008 we were able to begin the rebuild effort at our condor sanctuary thanks in a very large part to the immense amount of support we recieved from volunteers, members, and our collaborators. On December 12, 2008 we completed the rebuild of our condor release pen! We will begin construction on our large holding pen in January of the new year. Thank you for supporting our Condor Rebuild efforts in Big Sur...Ventana Wildlife Society and the condors continue to rise from ashes.
Hey Joe, met you briefly when you came and gave a lecture at the Oakland Zoo about a year and a half ago...I'm so glad you have been able to bounce back after the set backs. The new release pen looks beautiful! Thanks to all of you at VWS...you are all true heroes!
