Is it thrue that in medieval 2 you can play campaign with only 5 nations ?

@garioldwin no you initially start with 5, but everytime u personally destroy a nation you unlock it

@garioldwin Actually, once you win a campaign with any of the starting 5 you unlock all the rest. Or you can just modify one of the files (it's really easy) and you can play any faction from the very beginning. If you get M2, make sure you check out the many wonderful mods for it. They make the game far better.

@NoisemakerArrow ah yes i was thinking of rome total war where you had to kill each faction off to unlock. Have you tried Third Age Total War Modification, that is really good, best made mod for Lord of the Rings imo ^^

I love playing as the Mongols. They have the best looking mounts and have tough units, especially in Broken Crescent.

...You got owned because you sent your heavy infantry out to be surrounded by mounted and dismounted archers, and then steam rolled by one of the best cavalry units in M2TW. Beating the Mongols is very easy. Mostly archer units and extremely maneuverable. Use fast and highly mobile units to counter; Like with the Turks, you can use Turkomans to more or less corral the MOngol skirmisher units and then smash them with cavalry. Infantry is pointless vs Mongols.

MASS CAVALRY CHARGES ARE ONLY WAY TO BEAT MONGOLS GET IN FAST AND GET IN HARD. i did on hardest setting and won and beat the entire mongol empire hahaha with the english of course and with the french too i was jobless for a few months and spanked the shit out of this game and i'm a tactical genius of course but tehn again who isn't who plays this game right?

your culverins were badly placed,use them as a base of fire and decimate thier ranks at long range as they advance,if they hold thier ground all the better,pound em anyway until your ammo is gone.

you had some decent missle troops as well.take the high ground and let the missle heavy mongols march through a hail of cannon,crossbow,and arrows to get in range..you have to reduce thier missle troops before melee or suffer great attrition. stand behind your spears and polearms use knights in gaps

once my mongol dismounted lancers held out alone(1 unit) against dismounted templar knights(1 unit), marshal of the templars(general) and some templar crossbowman(1 unit). And they held out after my entire army routed and my general was slain. so what can we learn from this?
