I was agnostic until I saw myrrhing icons at an Orthodox Church. I would say that in order for a person to believe in God, they need to have an encounter with God. I can understand agnosticism though. Really one cannot really know for sure that God exists unless they have an encounter with Him.
Mormons usually have an answer to the theodicy question. They will either say that the earth as it is being played out was our choice - we all voted for this plan while we were souls. Or they will cede that their God is not all-powerful. Mainstream Christians have a bigger problem with the theodicy issue.
Asking Mormons for "middle ground" is silly. The missionaries I talk to all reject the idea of "middle ground." They'll accept that many religions have "some" truth, but they insist that they are the only ones who are 100% right. Basically, you cut your hair, wear a tie, smile and politely insist you know you've figured out essentials of the universe by praying and going to testimony meetings.
@mikelheron20 it was never meant in the phrase be afraid, the term or word fear was used or implied as "respect" him not be afraid of him.that is something that confuses many people and has to be looked at carefully. however if you choose to be afraid its all good lol. By the way I am a God fearing man.
@eatersofdead The kind that wanted a first hand perspective of the life he puts his children through. The unselfish type... the loving type... the perfect type....
@eatersofdead We don't buy that after life is just darkness because eternity has been placed upon our hearts and the hope of it was installed in our minds. Yet for some reason, people fear this eternal darkness. How can darkness come where only light has shined? How can something come out of nothing? Unconsciousness cannot form consciousness. Your right were on a journey, together, only the grand consciousness knows where were going.
