Jupiter the biggest planet of our solar system captured with a 150 mm (6 inch) achromatic refractor telescope equiped with a Chromacor. I used a Tou Cam Philips web cam and a 2x barlow witha tele-extender to get a decent magnification on the chip, this was made on a night with a steady atmosphere, good astronomical seeing.

  • @RCFMitch

    Hey Mitch!

Well, I have no longer that AVI file, I had to delete it cause my hard disc is nearly full...sorry :( But you can check out the final image on the link

  • Hey, i want to buy my first telescope and i was thinking of this one: SkyView Pro 120mm EQ Refractor. It has 120mm lens and 1000mm focal length f/8.3. Is this a good telescope or would you recommend a reflector or something else?

    Hi there!

Personally i think you´ll be better with a newtonian on the 150 / 200 mm range, the 150mm f/8 Orion or Sky Watcher version is an excelent choice for planetary observation, the optical quality is near excelent, and 150 mm aperture will show you a great dealof detail on the planets, you your thinking is deep sky then go for at least 200mm;)

    Cheers,

    Luís Campos

  • Wow. That's amazing.

I'll buy a Newton 200/1200 but I really don't know what I'll be able to see with that kind of telescope. Then I've a question: does this video exactly reflect what we can see through the oculars of your telescope, or does using a cam make the image better?

    Thanks for answering =)

  • @climatehurt

    Hi there!

I also have a 200/1200 newtonian and it's a great all round scope, in nights of good seeing it delivers very good images of Jupiter, it shows more thatn you can see here in teh video, nothing like the human eye to see fine detail ;)

    Cheers,

    Luís Campos

  • How can the telescope be so steady?

  • Mentira isso e uma foto.

  • impossible. i don't belive that u can see jupiter from telescope this good... i mean this great!

  • I have just received a 130mm Celestron Newt reflector scope.

I have looked at Jupiter with the 10mm eyepiece and this gives a 65X magnification.

It was a lot smaller than this and I could only just make out its colors.

Could you give me an idea of the magnification for this shot.

  • Hello, im new to this and i been trying to read a lot. but still dont know which eyepieces you guys recomend for what i just bought.

i got a 150mm ioptron 6" 1400 focallenght. wondering which barlows and eyepieces are recomended. i was thinking in the celestron kit EP and filters or some Agena eyepieces 4mm 6mm 8mm and a 2.5x apochromatic barlow and some filters, any advice would help a lot ! thank you.

  • Apo or achro?

  • que daora ..

  • funny the n equitorial belt changed now jupiter has 2 eyes

  • im also thinking of stepping up to a 6 newt i have a 12 f6 parks mirror but its to costly to build into a polar mounted scope i cant afford it is it possible to send avi files to another person i would love to process a file of jupe from a larger scope i can send you my email address

  • does the telescope track the planet itself, or we need some other tool to do this work?
