This is the original version of the song, by The Surftones. The Pixies cover version on Bossanova samples the sound of original guitarist Steve H kicking his 1964 blackface Fender Twin-Reverb amp from this recording. It's that weird clang sound that starts off the song. This version is STEREO

BTW, people...when uploading clips, it's always desirable to have extra black / dead air bookending the clip....that's better than having the clip chopped at the front or tail end.

Bossanova. Although, this is a different version of the song. I'm not sure where this version would be found. Perhaps a b-side or single? If you search "The Pixies - Cecilia Ann/Allison" here on YouTube, you'll hear the Bossanova version, along with another song, Alison.

This original version is from the various artists CD called "Surf Legends (And Rumors) - Rockin' Instrumentals 1961 - 1964." It came out in 1989 and is out of print.
