Asheville North Carolina UFO 1-25-07

UFO spotted in North Carolina on 1-25-07. First day of my first visit to NC and around 9pm leaving the Regal Cinema on Rte. 25 up in the sky was a hovering object rotating and changing colors. It looked like it was 6-10 miles away and it was well above the hill line beneath it. The sighting lasted about 15-20 minutes, unfortunately my Duracell's didn't. I got what I could, not bad for a no-name 5mp digital camera in video mode. It was a truly incredible and surreal experience. There were a number of other theater-goers who also stopped to get out and watch (at least 3 vehicles). As far as I know I was the only one filming it. After about 20 mins the object went straight up into the sky and then it went dark and disappeared. When we returned to the hotel my wife and I watched the local news and on it they reported that the night before(the 24th)a meteor was reported as having crashed in the area but no one had found it as of yet and one report said it may have been some kind of space debris because of its color and speed. I thought that was interesting as well.
EDIT: Someone said this might be Venus, but I'm told it would be too late for Venus (around 9pm)also it was pretty cloudy and overcast, there wasn't a star in the sky, let alone a planet. And to answer the question are you sure this wasn't Wednesday, the day of the meteorite; yes I'm sure. I arrived in NC on Thursday.

i saw this all last summer every night in different locations . i was told it was a satellite. it was a little bigger than a star and it flashes different colors

Sorry bubba, this was below clouds and hovered for a long period of time and then rose up through the clouds. Sat's don't do that.

I don't know what's worse: That a dumb tourist got his camera out and starting filming a police car on a road pulling someone over, higher in elevation than his position... or that 52 people watched the video, commented, and none came to this conclusion. If you're from here, you see this many nights. In the winter, it's illegal to be on the Parkway. The road is closed. You would get pulled over. End of story. Another easily solved mystery. You're welcome.

I appreciate most of your comment and I can see where you might say this is so obvious, However, I want to assure you that despite the lack of clarity in the video, the silhouette of hills and mountains were plainly visible to the naked eye. I work for a fire department, I'm quite familiar with the wa emergency vehicle lights look both near and far away. I guarantee you, this was not that. Omg i live in fletcher nc and see the same kind of lights in sky at night. Some nights u see them some u dont. We have counted up to like 6 in one night. This is crazy !

it could be a ufo but i live in the rural areas surronding asheville i see wierd stuff here all the time a lot of infrared equipped millitary planes and choppers fly by every night by the way I believe we are not alone, and I check the skies on a regular basis. I have found many flying objects but none I would consider hard evidence. you should check out the brown mountain lights that one hasn't been explained yet, Maybe aliens, maybe paranorma This area is a supernatural cornucopia.

I saw this on 6 different occasions last year and after my friends called me crazy, I got a call that there was a crowd outside Ingles on Tunnel Ave in broad daylight all pointing up in the sky asking eachother what it was. I want to know if it is back this year as I had to leave Asheville. Definitely paranormal activity and I called the police to ask them and they had no answers for me.

Interesting that there are so many hoaxers out there that when that seems as legitimate as does this one that there is no trust or recognition of the obvious. Now in 2011 with ever increasing sitings that seem unidentified, the naysayers wear blinders...........

In fact, there is a video out there called the "London Landing," which shows a probe leaving a larger disc shaped ship.

From my limited studies in unidentified craft, this one seems to be what is termed a "Probe." These UFOs are smaller and more cylindrical than mother craft. The hallmarks of these ships are these: they can stay in spots for hours or even days, they are cylindrical and rotate (kind of looks like a kid's sippy-cup), and their movement is typically slower and the angles used in flight are not as dramatic as those disc looking crafts.
