This remains my all-time personal favorite interpretation of "The Nutcracker." Although there aren't children here dancing the roles (which are mostly that of children), this still was one of the best things ever by the hand of Baryshnikov. He is not only the supporting actor, but choreographer as well. A pas de deux between these two is worth more than it's weight in gold--superior only to that of watching their solos... and the solos of all the Prince's loyal subjects.
Their best, THE BEST.
This is my favorite performance of the Nutcracker,I can't believe that was 32 years ago.

This was a PBS presentation for Christmas 1977, with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gelsey Kirkland. I remember watching this on TV - a beautiful interpretation!
