John Gill from Perth, Australia performed during the late evening "After Hours" party at the 1995 Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri.
It was a wonderful event & he was fantastic.

This is a Billy Joel tune entitled, "Root Beer Rag."

This is a video clip from an old VHS tape provided to me by long time ragtime fan and pal Dick Hanauer. He used to video plenty of the happenings at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festivals and had a nice library of videos, but they were all lost in a house fire that destroyed almost 100% of his belongings. He had sent this one tape to me that I have kept all these years.
1995 was the first year I started attending this festival and I am so glad to have this wonderful record of it.
As time goes by I'll be mining the recording for some more of the best clips to post to YouTube.

MANY, MANY THANKS to you Mr. Dick Hanauer!

  • This got to be top player. He don't push/touch the notes. He squeezes out the melodies instead. Top talent for sure.

  • KingRat355,

I think you've got it figured out!

    Thanks for watching!
