The folia is an ancient dance from Portugal, where young girls engaged in the "folly" of a wild dance of abandonment. The Folia dance traditionally gets faster and wilder toward the end. This arrangement by Jeannette Sorrell is a concerto grosso, after Vivaldi's triosonata La Folia.

  • This is a great performance from my favorite version of the 'folia.' It is, of course, an arrangement, as the "suonate a tre" were written for just two violins.

  • ive once heared the follia on youtube and thougt this is boring, y does everyone like it so much. and yesterday i watched again and WOW this is AWESOME. vivaldi made an epic peace. im sorry for all peple in the world that dislike classical music...
