Cor Meibion Dinbych mewn cyngerdd yn Eglwys Sant Ioan, Llandudno gyda Arwyn Roberts yr arweinydd yn canu Craig yr Oesoedd. Ysgrifennwyd y trefniant yma gan Gwilym Gwalchmai yn arbennig i gyn-arweinydd y cor sef y diweddar Mrs Phylis Dryhurst - Dodd, MBE.
Y cyfeilydd yw Mrs Joyce Davies

We, as a choir are very grateful to the Trustees of St Johns and St Davids Churches, Llandudno for the opportunity to perform at a number of their weekly concerts. Over the years we have met many people from all over the world who have enjoyed an important part of Welsh culture.

The tradition of Male voice choirs is disappearing fast with the average age of choristers rising each year with no younger people joining as replacements, yet male voice choirs remain very popular ie. Fron Male Voice Choir and Only Men Aloud have recently become national icons.

I would ask young men who are interested in singing to join their local male voice choir on order to secure the future of one of Wales prime cultural institutions.

Yr ydym yn ddiolchgar iawn i Ymddiriedolwyr Eglwysi Sant Ioan a Sant Dewi, Llandudno am y cyfle i gymeryd rhan mewn amryw oi cyngherddau wythnosol.Dros y blynyddoedd rydym wedi cyfarfod ag amryw o ymwelwyr, rhai o wledydd tramor sydd wedi mwynhau rhan bwysig o ddiwilliant Cymreig

Mae traddodiad corau meibion yn brysur ddiflanu gan nad oes rhai iau yn ymuno, felly maer oedran, ar gyfartaledd yn codi pob blwyddyn ar rhifau aelodau yn gostwng, ond yn rhyfedddol mae corau fel Froncysyllte a Only Men Aloud (Cantorion) wedi dod ir brig yn genedlaethol.

Buaswn yn awgrymu i ddynion ifancach sydd a diddordeb mewn canu i ymuno ai côr meibion lleol er mwyn sicrhau dyfodol un o sefydleoedd diwilliant pwysicaf Cymru.

  • Great singer, great character. Great choir

  • By the way, a long time ago (in 1995) we were in Llandudno and gave a concert in Rhyl with the Côr Meibion Colwyn.

  • But the choir's "skeleton staff" is of course the older choristes who sing here for 10, 20,... years.

  • For our male voice choir, e.g., it is easier to keep the tradition, because we are a University's choir and have a permanent inflow of young choristes. 10-20 students start to sing in the choir in their freshman year, 5-10 keep on singing till the end of their study, 1-5 do not leave the choir after graduation. And though most students leave the choir, nevertheless the half of the choir's concert part is represented by young generation.

  • It's a pity that the tradition of male voice choirs in Wales is disappearing...

But it appears to be that there will be no problem with the young generation of choristes only in colleges and universities, where both older and younger people are not only geographically united but have rather closer realationship as members of the same educational community.

  • Thank you.
