Paulo Herkenhoff is an art critic and historian. He was the director of Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro (2002-2006), chief curator of the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (1985-90) and adjunct curator at The Museum of Modern Art, New York (1999-2002). He has also worked as the artistic director of the XXIV Bienal de São Paulo (1988). Currently Herkenhoff is working on an exhibition that looks at the relations between contemporary art and the society in Brazil.
