Harel Skaat will be representing Israel in Eurovision 2010 with this entry "Milim".
It has been just over 10 years since Dana International stormed Eurovision with the entry "Diva".
Harel is hoping to lead Israel to victory for the fourth time since their first appearance in 1973.
@kjellhl1975 agreed, people should find an anthem to argue on about politics

@Nilguiri Haneen Zoubi was on the flotilla, criticizes her own country vociferously, and somehow is still in Parliament collecting her salary and voting on bills. Shouldn't that tell you something about the country? How many Blacks were in South Africa's parliament before 94/95? None.

@B21983
Haneen Zoubi wouldn't agree with you.

@Nilguiri All governments are lying and conniving. Israel is no exception. Belligerent? Yeah sometimes. Racist? In a country where Arabs can vote, hold office, join the military, criticize the govt, etc. No, one can't call that a racist country. A country with racists? Sure, plenty. But its no South Africa.

@Nilguiri Israel is a signatory to the UNCAT so torture as it is defined by the UN is illegal in Israel. According to B'tselem's analysis, I'd like to get myself a copy of the whole decision in English, physical torture isnt allowed, period, but the court did say that someone accused of torture may, if brought to court, use the "necessity" defence. Not quite the same as saying you can torture under certain circumstances.

@B21983
I go by evidence, not faith. If you investigate the 1999 ruling, you will see that it does in fact allow torture under certain circumstances, which of course has been used on "countless" occasions since then.
I am objective. I have come to the conclusion that the Israeli govt are belligerent, racist, awkward, lying, conniving assholes. That is not prejudice. Prejudice is to pre-judge. That is an objective conclusion, I assure you.
I've got to work a bit... Bye.

@Nilguiri But to be fair, the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel has said Israel has treated many Palestinian prisoners in contravention of international standards. Typically tho, a country that has human rights groups and minority groups that criticize their own govt with impugnity is not "fascist". But c, unlike you, I can look at the evidence objectively, otoh u really seem to have a religious attachment to this cause of urs.

@Nilguiri "The Goldstone Report. What a joke". I put a question mark, just would like a citation, if not that, what about Amnesty, or HRW? That's what I mean about you seeming to have a religious faith. Even criticism of Israel, if its not the most extreme damning of the country, and regardless of how much research was put into it, is rejected by you much in the same way religious people gladly take 'evidence' that back up their claim but dismiss all contrary evidence.

@Nilguiri I did check it, The Guardian of all places. The Supreme Court held it illegal in 1999, overturning previous Israeli policy that allowed physical torture as a means of interrogation.
