While you say one thing about yourself, your government tells the world otherwise - who is being dishonest?

  • @ma66otbride666,

Actually it wasn't originally there. "In God We Trust" did not appear on any US coins until 1864, and didn't even appear on most coins until 1909. Moreover, the phrase was not put on dollar bills until 1955.

As to the pledge of allegiance, the word "God" was added in 1954.

Therefore, we're not asking to change something that was there from the beginning; rather, we're asking to restore it to the original version.

  • @noaccount4 Yeah, I just moved to England from America... and when I exchanged USD to GBP, the first thing I noticed was that Charles Darwin was on it. I knew I was going to love living here before I got here, hah. =D

  • The thing on your currency isnt new, back then it was mostly God loving, God fearing people in America right?

I do believe in God but i think that is a very stupid thing to have on money unless lets say

Your a Muslim/Christian/Jewish/Buddhist etc country then of i'd understand why.

  • I liked the point Lawrence Krauss made that when you look at a UK £10 note it has Darwin on it. When you look at an American $10 it has a PYRAMID with an EYE on the top! WTF?

  • @Ribsx cat XD

i couldnt stop staring at it o.O

  • I pray to God,I believe in God, but I'd be lying if I said that I trust him 100%.

When bad things happen, I get scared. People say I am not a Christian because I don't make prayer my daily life. Okay, I'll accept that, but if I sat here and said that I trust in him and never fear anything, I'd be full of shit. I don't know whether or not he exists, I simply "think" he does. So, when horrible things happen, I feel fear. You're right. We don't all trust in God, even those of us who pray to him.

  • Btw theres something called the illuminati..

  • Wait.. So true.. I mean not everyone in the usa has a religion.. Wtf.. Either some dont or we have different religions also. Thanks.

  • @ApexUpload Didn't even read your post. Saw your spelling, and instantly concluded that you're a fucking moron. Wanna be taken seriously? Learn how to spell.

  • @FreedomOfDefense The In God we Trust was adopted as a "official" motto in 1956 (same batch of paranoid Congressmen who voted in the "under God" into the Pledge in 1954 to combat the "evil athiest" USSR).

The 'E pluribus unum" if more specifically an unofficial motto since no one has ever actually voted it in officially.

  • @FreedomOfDefense "In God we Trust" is not our motto. We have a motto but it isnt that. Our national motto is "E Pluribus Unum" which in latin reads as "One from the Many" (ie our strength from our diversity). "In God we Trust" was placed on the currency by the then Secretary of the Treasury and the Director of the Mint because they believed we needed "motivation" and they had little to no oversight over their authority to label the money.

  • @ma66otbride666 "In God we Trust" was placed there by one of the Directors of the MInt whom had the power (at that time) to place mottos and symbols on the money with very little oversight.

Also the Pledge of Allegiance originally never had "One Nation, under God, indivisible...". It originally read as "One Nation indivisible...." and was only changed in 1954 by the Congress to make us seem more opposite to the "evil, athiests" of the Communist regime of the USSR.
