ok i have say something. are u really that stupid.why are u starting ur car and immediatly moving it back and forth in the driveway. at -20 u need to leave it warmup for abot 10 to 15 minutes. i am a truck driver for 12 years and i own a 2009 volkswagen jetta tdi.. i have never had a problem with the transmission slipping. and i doublt its the transmissin i think u are riding the clutch the coldest temp my other tdi was in was -30 and i still never had problems. volkswagen dont fix stupid.

jesus are you really that dumb, its a diesel, it needs to warm up, and at that temp so does a gas engine. Goodluck with your slippage, as that car will need a new drivetrain soon thanks to you.

@chiefqc it is a speed sensor problem a friend had this happen.

Well, it was really costly adventure.
Hope mine won't let me down. However i had some issue with the engine.
At -24c some vacuum valve in EGR got frosen. It resultedn in switching into emergency mode. More than 200km form my house...
I've read that VW's engineering doesn't like frost.

Man the poor thing sleeps in an igloo, let it warm up a bit before you rape the gear box....

hei superman ,remember this for all your life, every engine must have a "hooting time" for 3 minutes in -30 C on winter , sow if u are not happy go to your dealer and they will explain you how works , dont maters if is a mercedes , vw , audi ,skoda ,seat, land rover ,mini , toyota, honda etc , all the engine must be protected for having a long life , thanks for listenig

wiseup101 - passenger car is nothing like a truck. You don't have pneumatics in it, so you don't have to wait for air pressure to build up like you do in a truck. Long idling after cold start may cause faster use of main bearings and rod bearings. The engine is warming up slower when idling. One should start the engine, wait no longer than 20 secs. Then start moving avoiding high revs. Engine is warming up much faster when in normal run. Cheers

What country are you in? I've been driving the '10 Passat Wagon 2.0 TDI with DSG in -30C this winter (in Norway) without any problems.
-
you do realize that a dsg trans has gear lube in it right? which is already thick.
I always let the DSG to warm up and it works properly. No matter how freezing it is.

@pazaj0 warming didnt change nothing in this case ...
at - 25c and colder it gets even worst ... it was putting it self in gears and stop in the park pin, on a few occasion even slip on highway... worst transmission ever, and wv never fixt the problem. i ave resale that scrap. they ave always said that everithing was fine, run it and when it will give up we will chage it ...
lost at least 5000$ in this adventure.
