JAMES BOND SUPPORTS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2011
www.weareequals.org / www.weareequals.org/blog
The two-minute short, specially commissioned for International Women's Day, sees 007 star Daniel Craig undergo a dramatic makeover as he puts himself, quite literally, in a woman's shoes.

Directed by acclaimed 'Nowhere Boy' director/conceptual artist Sam Taylor-Wood, scripted by Jane Goldman ('Kick Ass') and featuring the voice of Dame Judi Dench reprising her role as 'M', the film will be screened in cinemas and streamed online in a bid to highlight the levels of inequality that persist between men and women in the UK and worldwide. It is the first film featuring Bond to be directed by a woman.

Director: Sam Taylor-Wood. Producer: Barbara Broccoli. Scriptwriter: Jane Goldman. Director of photography: Seamus McGarvey. Featuring the voice of Dame Judi Dench.

Editor: Mel Agace
Post production: Michael Sollinger
Post production coordinator: Harriet Dale
With thanks to all the team at Ascent, including Patrick Malone, Dean Harding,
Grading: Robin Pizzey
Deluxe grade production: Rob Farris
Effects fix: Emily Greenwood
Sound producer: Hannah Mills
Sound: Simon Diggins and Peter Gleaves at Goldcrest

The EQUALS partnership and Annie Lennox would like to thank all the production team, cast and crew that donated their time, vision and energy in the hope of a more equal world for women and girls.

  • Are we equals? Not in this video. We never hear the mans voice or his side of the story. We just hear a bunch of slanderous statements about how privileged he is, no mention of the extra sacrifices required of him, and then we hear about how the poor women are beaten and raped by the man. Im really tired of this hate speech masquerading as equality.

  • i say bullshit

  • i live in england and 3 of my 5 ex girlfriends have been raped, thay all went to university and the drinking culture is because of this

  • @AnonEyeMouse

Between a woman's chance of being raped and that of a man. There is no deeper connotation to the ad other than what you yourself bring to it. Honestly, it is as if you are trying to be offended.

And no, I'd not play a lottery with a 3% chance of winning, because I'd have a 97% chance of losing, and I did quite well at maths in school.

  • @AdamLore

'It is very insulting to tell a group of people that have been abused that they are insignificant, and had "hardly any chance" of it happening, so oh well. You don't count, because there is this other group of people who has it worse.'

The add isn't addressing a group who have been abused. It's addressing all men, 97% of which you are arguing have not been abused.

It seems you are projecting a little here. The add addresses the fact that there is an order of magnitude difference-

  • @AnonEyeMouse

If you had a 3% chance of winning the lottery, what would you do?

I am not suggesting that the video is sending the message that men should be raped! Of course not.

But they could have worded a lot of those things in a less offensive way. It is very insulting to tell a group of people that have been abused that they are insignificant, and had "hardly any chance" of it happening, so oh well. You don't count, because there is this other group of people who has it worse.

    peace.

  • James Bond is a mangina?

  • I now love James Bond even more than before

  • @AdamLore

Even if the figure is 3%, and for the reasons stated previously I doubt that to be the case, that's 97% who weren't. Compare that to the 33% or 1 in 3 for women and then compare the two. I don't think it is at all 'out of line' to make the statement that there is 'hardly any chance' when used in comparison to women's stats.

After all... 3% to 33% is over an order of magnitude greater. The video wasn't suggesting more men SHOULD be raped but merely highlighted the inequities.

  • @AnonEyeMouse

That is stupid, though. Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that in this video, James Bond was one of the 3% of men who have been raped in their lifetime. Even if he was assaulted in his youth, it is completely inappropriate to say "you have it so easy, you have hardly any chance of being sexually assaulted." Hardly any chance of winning the lottery, sure. But all humans have a reasonable risk of being sexually assaulted.

This video is totally out of line.
