No liner was used. Patted down snow with tobaggan and shovels and then watered it with garden hose. Watered it good, minimum twice a day and once at nite. With steady low temps was able to skate on it a week later. Regular watering after this point, once in morning and again at night. No barriers or boards were used. Yes, fortunately backyard is flat. This is key. Got 5 good weeks of skating. Kids loved it. Cheers.

How did you build that. Did you use a liner? How about a barrier. Is your yard completeley flat?
