  • Can anyone tell me the name of the technique used from 0:14 to 0:26

I have seen experienced something similar in kung fu called the antenna hand.

Or if anyone has any other info on it that would be appreciated too :D

Also, if it wouldnt be too much trouble, could the text in this vid be translated perhaps? specialy interested in 0:26

Good vid 5/5 and faved it

  • I think that in this moment Yamaguchi sensei is exercising the control of uke(the partner). He starts whith a tecnique called Ikkyo and then when his partner is in the ground 0:14 he begins an improvisation followed by imobilisation But thats only my opinion

    thanks for the commnet :)

  • have you ever heard about the center control ?

  • @Dashwarp aikido is not a fight it's a method of training... whaat he is trying to show is that after the fist movement uke can't move without loosing contact with tori's hand... so tori is in control... if uke looses the contact with tori there's immediately the atemi so he can't... then tori just finish this exercise with the ikkyo tecnique...

  • @cheaptrades Correct !!

  • @Dashwarp

Simply put this is centre. The fake looking connection is Sensei employing pure centre on uke, the centre is heavy and effects ukes body mechanics right down to his centre, thus he is compelled to move with sensei's movements. Uke's centre is connected to sensei and its hard to resist against nothing but centre. U can resist strength quite easily mentally and pyhsically. centre is not a techinque its a product of body awareness and extension, learnt after many years of training.

  • @Dashwarp

Simply put this is centre. The connection that looks fake is created because Sensei centre is heavy and it is connected to ukes centre. Thats why he is compelled to move with sensei's movements as he is completely connected to uke centre which controls his whole body regardless of conscious resistance. This is why we should try not to use strength as strength will attack your own centre. This is beyond techinque its body awareness that hopefully is understood after alot of practice.

  • Hi DaTaBASE3089, I've seen some Videos of the "Master" your talking about. He seems to do a very effektiv and hard Aikido. But U know what?

Looks like he has an Enemy.

There is no Enemy in Aikido, it's a Partner you train with. If You only train Aikido for hurting someone, do anything else.

    O'Sensei's Idea was different.

And here it again: Love and Harmonie. Ai- Ki- Do. Just translate it.

    Peace.

  • What do you know...simple keyboard warriors

  • "real" aikido is a joke. They arent recognized by any aikido organization. I wonder why...

  • I also have grave doubts about Aikido for real situations, but I have used it against violent people in a hospital environment and on those occasions it did work. Luckily for me!
