In a co-production with NOVA Science Now, QUEST explores the potential of algae once considered nothing more than pond scum to become the fuel of the future. Entrepreneurs from the Bay Area to LA are working to create the next generation of biofuels from algae. But will you ever be able to run your car off it?
On a side note, algae can also be used to create ethanol along with oils for bio-diesel

Algae is a great alternative, and alcohol/ethanol doesn't only need to come from corn, and the market wash tampered with by the oil companies to inflate the price of corn.
Check out David Blume for more info on ethanol as a fuel.

I didn't know that algae are neither plants nor animals; kinda like fungi. Very interesting!
