DA1431 Run

Steam Inc's newly refurbished DA1431 on its first public outing left Wellington and headed North through the Hutt Valley and into the Wairarapa plains. Then winding through the Manawatu Gorge out in to Palmerston North to head home to Paekakariki on the Kapiti coast. Beautiful day for a stunning piece of machinery

Great video and a wonderful noise. Why the slow down at 2:28?

@applecounty They did a photo stop for the passengers on board. They dropped them off and the backed up. After it goes through the cutting you can see them all at 3:12 as it goes past. I did stills on the first run past.

Shades of the Old Scenic Daylight Express. The sound of that G12 will live in my memory forever. Great Aussie Clyde built general purpose locos. Easy to operate and real gutsy freight haulers. First class of DA's equipped with the 26c/l maintaining brake.
