Calling to an Eastern Screech Owl

This cute little red Eastern Screech Owl has been coming to our tree for the last few nights. I'm not good at IDing bird calls. Just the birds. When we first heard it we weren't sure if it was a bird or a frog. But we went out with the flashlight and Chris found him. Once I saw him I knew it was a screech owl. I needed to warm up my voice and I did his called. I was thrilled that he looked down and called back every time I called him. I'm out of practice with my bird calls but now I will brush up on them and do even better. I'd like to befriend this little guy like I have with Egg Bird the crow. Yes Chris and I loved this and giggled about it a lot. He was so cute and roundular.

It's amazing that he was not startled by the flashlight and just stayed put... That "call" is very sweet and subtle. It doesn't sound to me like you need any practice at all!
