I think we're ready now. Not just the crew at Submerge, but all of Bangalore too.

Over the past 5 years that Submerge established it's residency at Fuga, and after 4 years of being the festival director of Sunburn, Nikhil watched the party scene evolve, grow and mutate into a dozen different life forms. The clubbing community in the city has multiplied with the scene too, as legions of DJs made Bangalore their favourite destination to play in India.. There isn't a better or more knowledgeable clubbing community in India, than the punters in Bangalore...

A couple of months ago, Fuga closed it's doors and with it Submerge's epic residency there came to an end too. It seemed to be the end of an era, the passing of an entire dance generation. Or was it? In the words of Richard Bach, "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly". It was time for Submerge to spread it's wings - and party just a little bit harder in the city we call our home!!!

So we decided to take the plunge and with it, the next big step. We've teamed up with our friends at one of Bangalore's most loved party spots - EZone, and have created Bangalore's first summer dance festival.

We've called it the Submerge Supernova.

Submerge Supernova is currently planned as a one-day event on the 15th May 2011 and will run from 12noon till midnight. There will be three stages on which over 20 artists will perform. The stages are called the "This Stage", the "That Stage" and the "Other Stage". (Nikhil always wanted to do this!)

For the first edition of Submerge Supernova at EZone, we've opted for a small and tight line-up of artists. International heavyweight DJ Markus Schulz (Currently ranked #8 in the world) and Xerox & Illumination will lead the charge and we've also invited some of our closest DJ friends from India and abroad to join us to play short sets at our first marquee event. Sadly, with just one day, we aren't able to invite all our DJ friends to join us in Bangalore.. but,

... but, the second Submerge Supernova is already being planned, as we intend to host this event not once, but TWICE every year - a summer edition and a winter edition too.

Definition of a Supernova
A supernova (plural supernovae or supernovas) is a stellar explosion that is more energetic than a nova. Supernovae are extremely luminous and cause a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy, before fading from view over several weeks or months. During this short interval a supernova can radiate as much energy as the Sun is expected to emit over its entire life span.
