From Anna: Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas arrived to the Chicago venue yesterday together. They tried to hide her and get her in before anybody saw but that didn't work out well. He came out and met some fans and then sang two songs. Later on, when Nick was doing his meet & greet,

Selena left out the back entrance. A few of us called her name and she came over and took pictures and said hi to all of us, despite what security wanted. She was super nice and it was a surprise seeing her. She left in a car and didn't stay for the concert.

She had a bunch of bodyguards that strictly told me 'no' when I was about to tap her and ask for a picture. She danced and screamed the lyrics to the songs just like every other person in the audience and it seemed like she had a great time.

TMZ has learned the teen Disney idol was on the hunt for the perfect timepiece for a special friend -- if you believe the rumors, that friend is Nick Jonas. She picked it up at a jewelry store in the Northpark Mall in Dallas.

We're told she got the watch engraved with the phrase "Check the time ... I love you right now" -- and then personalized the box with a line from a Roy Croft love poem: "I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am with you."

Good deal ... considering the total bill was only $148.31.
