i agree on the "race losing' slow hoist there, damn sloppy or do sprit boats do slower hoists or what never sailed one. unless it can plane no use for a sprit tactically weak...
I raced on two Synergy 1000's, one with a bowsprit & asym, the other converted to symmetric with a pole. Hoist takes about the same time either way. Looks like they had some sort of hangup or something for such a slow hoist.
I prefer symmetric chutes. Cleaner gybes, and (for me) easier to sort out the lines as a bowman. Symmetric the lines (sheet & guy) make sense, asym they always seemed like an illogical tangle. But I grew up sailing in the old days with symmetric chutes.
