Garden In The Rain

There is a redolence to rain
A hint of orange jessamine
A breath of applemint, decreased
by ratio to eucalypt released.
Tho rosemary and lavender prevail
especially if slightly bruised by hail.

The raindrops filagree the fronds
of fern that ring the lotus ponds.
And spider webs, invisible, appear
as benedictory frogs beset the ear.
Each bough, each leaf, each blade of grass
Shower me with Silver as I pass.

I shelter beneath the Laurel tree
to plot the course of any homeward bee.
I catch the furtive scurry of the skink
See Turtle Doves still cooing as they drink.
As the chortling from out the swollen drain
sums up the garden's attitude to rain.

  • Here's to the aesthetic purity of a fine poem: visual, olfactory, auditory. This is working on all fronts with a delicate brush, but the impact is as full and fresh as a walk through a rain-sprinkled rose garden. I feel ultimately renewed. Thanks Gugulia and Laurie for a lovely work of art. - Erika :) p.s. Faved
